WEB Crystal Palace VS Manchester United
Head to Head Record Premier League: Monday, May 6th, 2024, 12:00PM
Crystal Palace completed a Premier League double over Manchester United for the first time in their history with a resounding 4-0 victory at Selhurst Park on Monday. Michael Olise scored a brace of goals, while Eberechi Eze and Wilfried Zaha also found the net as the Eagles condemned United to their biggest league defeat since October 2021.
The result leaves United in sixth place in the Premier League table, six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with just four matches remaining. Crystal Palace, meanwhile, move up to 12th place, nine points clear of the relegation zone.
Erik ten Hag's side were second best throughout the contest and rarely looked like threatening the Crystal Palace goal. The hosts took the lead in the 21st minute when Olise curled a superb free-kick into the top corner. Eze doubled the lead just before half-time with a clinical finish from the edge of the area.
Olise made it 3-0 in the 57th minute with a close-range finish after Zaha had seen his initial effort saved. Zaha then added the fourth goal in the 74th minute with a fine solo effort.
The defeat was United's heaviest since a 5-0 loss to Liverpool in October 2021. It was also the first time they had conceded four goals in a Premier League match since a 4-1 defeat to Watford in November 2021.
