Ahead of the 2022 NFL season, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker restructured his contract, converting $2.18 million in base salary into a signing bonus.

The new contract totals $20,275,000, with $6.49 million guaranteed at signing and a total vesting guarantee of $9.1 million.

Butker is set to earn $4.18 million this season, with $700,000 of that amount paid as a signing bonus.

By cutting Butker, the Chiefs could potentially save nearly $3 million, according to the report.

Butker initially signed a five-year, $20,275,000 contract with the Chiefs, including a $3,500,000 signing bonus, $9,100,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $4,055,000.

For the 2023 season, the contract earns Butker a base salary of $3,550,000 alongside a roster and workout bonus.
