Dame Sarah Storey Wins 19th Gold Medal at Paralympics, Doesn't Rule Out Competing in 2028 Games
Paralympic Legend Continues to Break Records
Dame Sarah Storey has made history once again at the Tokyo Paralympics, winning her 19th gold medal in the women's C5 time trial. The victory marks an incredible milestone for Storey, who has now surpassed swimmer Mike Kenny as the most successful British Paralympian of all time. The legendary cyclist and swimmer is now just one gold medal away from equaling the all-time record of 20 gold medals held by German swimmer Trischa Zorn.
Storey's gold medal was her third in Tokyo, following victories in the individual pursuit and road race. The 43-year-old has now won a total of 28 Paralympic medals, including 19 golds, 6 silvers, and 3 bronzes. She is the only female athlete to have won multiple gold medals at four consecutive Paralympic Games.
Not Ruling Out 2028 Games
Despite her remarkable achievements, Storey has not ruled out competing at the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. If she were to compete, she would be 50 years old, making her one of the oldest athletes in Paralympic history.
Speaking to reporters after her victory, Storey said, "I'm not saying I'm definitely going to do it, but I'm not ruling it out either. I'll take some time to reflect and see how I feel. But I'm still enjoying the sport and I'm still competitive, so we'll see what happens."
Storey's Legacy
Storey's success at the Paralympics has been an inspiration to many. She has shown that anything is possible with hard work and determination. Her legacy will continue to inspire athletes and people with disabilities for years to come.
